I can’t stress enough the
importance of good form. When you perform an exercise the right way,
you’re concentrating the stress on the muscles you’re attempting to
work. And that’s the way it should be. For example, when you do a biceps
curl with proper form (keeping your elbows tucked in to your sides and
lifting the weight with muscle strength rather than momentum) the full
force of the exercise is targeted only on your biceps. If you
compromise your form, you allow other muscle groups like your shoulders
or your back to support the weight. Bad form, therefore, cheats you out
of a truly effective workout.
Not only is bad form a waste of time spent in the gym, it could even lead to debilitating injuries that may prevent you from working out for weeks on end! And that’s a risk you don’t want to take. If you’re not sure how to use proper form, enlist the help of a personal trainer or helpful staff at your local gym. Even a one-hour tutorial is worth the cost – time and money – it will save you later.

My Thoughts
We hear these often enough from exercise videos: keep your back straight, chin up, tummy in, level arms, etc. And this is why. Better take heed, then. Otherwise, the exercise is simply a waste of precious time.
